Because the air is saturated, the room has to be waterproof. That means tile or stone over a membrane, a sloped ceiling so drips run down the walls instead of onto you, a tight glass door and a floor that drains. Assess and size
We measure the room, note wall materials and glass, and size the generator. Stone and tile need more capacity than acrylic.
Plumbing, power and membrane
We run water and a drain to the generator, wire its dedicated circuit, install the membrane and flood-test the floor. If a dry room is part of the plan, we coordinate with our installation crew on shared walls.
Tile, glass and controls
Tile goes up, then a sealed glass enclosure with a transom. We mount the steam head, controls and lighting.
Test and hand over
We run the room, check for leaks and fog, and show you how to flush the generator.

Floor and wall construction
Cement board or foam board, a continuous membrane, sloped floors to a drain and tile set in thinset rated for steam.
Ceiling slope
At least two inches per foot so drips run to the wall instead of onto your head.
Doors and glass
Floor-to-ceiling tempered glass with a vapor-tight seal, plus an operable transom for airing the room after use.
Lighting, sound and scent
Sealed LED fixtures, waterproof speakers and an aroma port by the steam head for eucalyptus or other oils.
Seating
Tiled benches sloped slightly for drainage, or a teak fold-down seat in a smaller shower.

Is a steam sauna the same as a steam shower?
They use the same generator. A steam shower is a sealed shower you can also use normally. A steam room is a dedicated space with seating and no shower head as the main feature.
Will a steam room work with well water?
Yes, though hard water leaves scale. We often add a softener or filter and pick a generator with auto-flush to keep it running longer.
